Prefix Magazine recently listed their favorite songs under one minute. Among the winners were "Her Majesty" by the Beatles plus mini-masterpieces by Wire, Guided by Voices and, of course, the Minutemen. Let me add this perfectly brief ditty from Sam Phillips' 1994 album "...Martinis & Bikinis." It clocks in at a lean 56 seconds. Watch it here.
I couldn't agree more. A perfect opening to one of the better CDs from the 90's.
ReplyDeleteOh yes - definitely one of the great short songs! I have it on several mixtapes/cds followed up by Strawberry Road, from the same great album, and the two work together so well they're now inextricably linked in my mind.
