This one contrasts nicely with the Magnetic Fields' original. Sardonic Stephin Merritt is able to get away with worldly images like "under more stars than there are prostitutes in Thailand" in a way that eludes the bright-eyed-bushy-tailed tenor of the Shins' James Mercer. And, the Fields' patented buzzy arrangements are replaced by airy acoustic guitars.
