Music can sometimes be broken down by personality type--some of it very much extroverted ("Burning Down the House" by the Talking Heads to pick a random example) and some decidedly more introverted (pretty much anything by Nick Drake). If Chris Cohen were to take Myers-Briggs, I have a feeling that he'd fall on the "I" range of the spectrum. And, sometimes that's just what the librarian ordered.
By the way, I'm not sure he meant it this way, but I like to imagine that "Optimist High" refers to a school for happy people, rather than one optimist's state of mind.
