Song of the day: "The Bravest Man in the Universe" by Bobby Womack

Bobby Womack was a protege of Sam Cooke, backed up James Brown, Joe Tex, and Aretha Franklin, and wrote songs for Wilson Pickett before releasing his first solo album in 1967. He has survived addiction, cancer, as well as some of the terrible musical trends of the the '70s and '80s. In 2010 he was featured on the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach, and Damon Albarn helped produced the starkly beautiful album The Bravest Man in the Universe in 2012. Have a soulful Sunday.
