Archy Marshall looks like he's about 12 but has a rough, lived-in voice that makes me think of Billy Bragg and Joe Strummer. His debut album, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon, jumps pretty effortlessly from spare bedroom pop to jazz to trip hop but all holds together nicely in the end. I can't think of a more startling debut this year.
