Let me get this out of the way...everyone (really everyone) compares Welsh artist Cate Le Bon's voice to that of ice goddess Nico. This rumor has the virtue of being true. And, songs like this one feature arrangements that wouldn't be out of place on the Velvet Underground's VU album. Le Bon released the lovely Cryk early this year, while the Cryk II ep, with other songs from the Cryk sessions, came out yesterday. Cate's website describes the difference between the two projects this way: "Whilst CYRK bounds around erratically and unknowingly like a younger sibling, CYRK II is its older sister, bearing songs of a more starkly confessional nature." This is perfect late night (or grey day) music. Listen here.
