As much as I appreciate Phil Specter's wall of sound approach, there are times when less really is more. Deep Time, a duo hailing from Austen, TX, provides an excellent example of the virtues of minimalism. The spare arrangements--which remind me of the work of the dearly departed Young Marble Giants--give extra space for Jennifer Moore's cool but lovely vocals. She sound for all the world like Stereolab's Laetitia Sadier. Cleanse your musical palate with Deep Time.
